SMYRNA, Ga. — It was a reunion two years in the making.

Smyrna police said a child has been reunited with her father after she was taken by her non-custodial mother two years ago and taken to Mexico.

Smyrna Police identified the child as 6-year-old Majesty Williams.

“With the help of new investigative technologies and SPD detectives that NEVER gave up, a young child was reunited today with the custodial parent,” the Smyrna Police Department said in a Facebook post Sunday night. “Tonight, a baby girl was reunited with her daddy.”

Police said Majesty was kidnapped by her non-custodial biological mother, Andrea McCord, in April 2021.

Police said Williams was working outside in the yard while McCord and Majesty were in the house during a supervised visit when at some point, he realized they were gone. Williams said McCord later texted him to tell him that his car was at a nearby grocery store and that the keys were under the seat.

Police said McCord’s boyfriend, Custodio Guerra, helped with the abduction.

The U.S. Marshals took on the case and were able to locate the victim and the kidnappers in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi.

On July 15, Mexican law enforcement officers arrested McCord and Guerra in the city of Rioverde.

Majesty was reunited with her father at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on July 16.

“This young victim is now back where she belongs, in the arms of her father. The fugitives are where they belong, behind bars, awaiting their day in court,” U.S. Marshals said.

McCord and Guerra were both arrested on charges of interstate interference with child custody. They have already been extradited back to the United States.

Williams issued a statement through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, saying “I am incredibly grateful and overjoyed to be reunited with my daughter. I want to thank the Smyrna Police Department, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and the U.S. Marshals for everything they did to find Majesty. Words cannot express how happy I am to have my daughter back home. Majesty is doing well, and I kindly ask the media for privacy at this time.”
