Missing teen suffering from depression, psychosis located in Kentucky, Smyrna police said

COBB COUNTY, Ga — Smyrna police say they located a teenage girl who suffers from depression, psychosis, and has had suicidal ideations.

At 10 p.m. Sunday evening, police said McDowell was found safely in Kentucky with her mother.

Police say that at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Kellie McDowell ran away from Ridgeview Institute.

Police did not release any details regarding how McDowell traveled to Kentucky or any additional details other than she was found to be in her mother’s custody.
