SMYRNA, Ga. — Police are searching for a trio of suspects caught on surveillance camera driving into a restaurant and stealing the ATM.
But customers told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell they’re not going to let that stop them from opening the business for New Year’s.
Newell learned this isn’t the first time Chicago Pizza and Sports Grill was targeted by ATM thieves. Five years ago, someone tried stealing the ATM, but was unsuccessful.

Just before 5 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, three people drove into the well-known Smyrna business and stole the ATM.
“It makes me upset because there are few places you can come to have a good time,” customer Reginald Wilson said. “I came here the following morning, spoke to the owner. I wanted to make sure the business was okay.”
Thankfully, the business was closed and no one was inside when a white pickup truck plowed into the business.
