COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police are currently investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting along Powder Springs Street.
Police say officers made a traffic stop on a car that was seen driving erratically and posing a danger to other drivers. The driver fled and struck multiple civilian and law enforcement vehicles during a chase.
After the stolen car was ultimately stopped, an officer fired at the suspect and killed him.
Investigators have not commented on what led to shots being fired during the incident.

Police have reported that a gun was found on the scene, but did not comment on who it belonged to.
Identities of the suspect who was killed and the officer have not been released.
Police say that Powder Springs Street is currently shut down between Garrison Road and Sandtown Road. Drivers should avoid the area.
NewsChopper 2 over the scene shows more than a dozen police cars and a fire truck on the scene. Both Cobb County police and sheriff’s deputies are among those on the scene.
Marietta City Schools says that the road closure will impact some of their bus routes. Some of the buses have been diverted to Park Street Elementary Schools. Some students at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics and Marietta Sixth Grade Academy will be required to remain at the school. Parents will be contacted to pick up their children from those locations.
Cobb County Police Chief C.T. Cox released a statement that reads, in part: “I am very relieved to share with you there were no other injuries in this dangerous situation Cobb County Police Officers and Cobb County Sheriff’s Deputies were involved in this afternoon...We are thankful no motorists or pedestrians were injured. And we will continue to provide all of our personnel and other needed resources to the GBI in the furtherance of their independent investigation.”
Chief Cox has requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in their investigation of this incident.
