West died in the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School on Dec. 16. Police say a 15-year-old student opened fire inside the school, killing West, a 14-year-old student and injuring six others. The suspect then shot and killed herself.
West graduated in 2000 from Harrison High School in Cobb County and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in education at Kennesaw State University.
Channel 2′s Courtney Francisco spoke to West’s former classmate Tara LaPorte, who shared an old photo of the two of them.
“Erin loved the Lord, her husband, and her girls. She was a precious soul, cared about everyone, lived like Jesus, with kindness, compassion, and empathy,” LaPorte said. “She would reach out if she thought anyone was having a tough time or a bad day to provide encouragement or prayers for them. This is a horrible, awful tragedy.”
West is survived by her husband Jack and their three daughters and her parents and sister.
