There are some very bright new lights in the big city at Cobb’s elevator tower

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — At the junction of Interstates 75 and 285, Cobb County’s tallest tower is making a statement.

“You’ll see it. It’s a beacon. You’ll be able to see it from miles away,” architect Jerry Alexander said.

It’s the new 420 foot tall headquarters of TK Elevator, which stands almost directly over the home of the Atlanta Braves. The company develops and tests its elevators in full view of those who look up. There company is hiring for hundreds of new jobs, and they plan to partner with local schools so future engineers can visit.

“The kids in the 5th and 6th grades. Elevator industry. That’d be cool,” company CEO Kevin Lavallee said.

But it’s interstate commuters that will get a daily show. The building features an 11-thousand square foot LED screen, the largest of its kind on any building in the country. It flashes messages to the metro 24-7.

“It’s really limitless. t’s like the TV in your house. There are over 2-million diodes up there. 700-thousand plus of red, blue, and green,” Alexander said.

The company says between all the cars that drive by and the jets that fly by, 285-million sets of eyes will see what’s flashing on the building every year.
