COBB COUNTY, Ga. — As Opening Day at SunTrust Park nears, some Atlanta Braves fans may not get their commemorative tickets until next week.
A special ticket for each game commemorates the inaugural season at the new ballpark
Thousands of season ticket holders are still waiting for their tickets.
The mobile ticket app works, but season ticket holders still get paper versions.
The Braves said 15 percent of the tickets for 18,000 season-ticketed seats were undelivered.
Ticket operations chief Anthony Esposito said they emailed season ticket holders the news that if they hadn't yet received their slate of commemorative inaugural tickets, they could print passes from their Braves account at home.
They told fans that there were unexpected printing and shipping delays.
"It's not the level of service we expect to provide you, but we are giving you the ability to print your tickets immediately so you have them in hand," he said.
Mike Reiner said he was anxious his tickets wouldn't arrive, but said he got the email from the Braves Wednesday night just as his ticket came in the mail.
"They were very pleasant about getting back to us, but it was still the lack of having them is where the anxiety came in," he said.
The Braves said all tickets should make it to their owners within 10 days.
