COBB COUNTY, Ga. — An unexploded Civil War shell was discovered at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, the Cobb County Police Department said.
The Cobb County police bomb squad was called after an archeological survey discovered the explosive ordnance.

Police said the explosive shell was examined and moved to a bunker for storage until the bomb squad can counter-charge it.

The “parrot shell” was found buried 10 inches below the surface. The explosive was commonly used by the Union army during the Civil War, according to the news release.
