COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Body camera video captured the heroic moment when a Cobb County police officer and a group of strangers saved a driver who had been in a fiery car crash.

Officer Hawkins was on his way home when he spotted the vehicle along I-75 and I-285 fully engulfed in flames.
He immediately ran to find the victim, who had crawled out of her car and got stuck in a fenced area.
By then, the good Samaritans were already there, helping.

They broke through the fence and helped the officer carry the victim to a safer location.
Emergency crews treated the driver, who had burns on 50% of her body.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The department thanks those who recognized a need for help and pulled over to help another person in need.
