COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police said a woman walking her dog was hit by a car and killed Monday night. The dog also died.

Police said the accident happened around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Sandy Plains Road and Whitlock Road. A Ford Ranger was traveling south on Sandy Plains Road when a woman crossed the street in front of the truck.
The truck hit the woman and her dog, killing them both on impact. The woman’s identity hasn’t been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Ranger, 53-year-old Robert Liebmann, was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
