Long lines reported after Cobb & Douglas Public Health delays opening COVID-19 vaccine site

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Cobb & Douglas Public Health department said it had to delay the opening of its COVID-19 vaccination site at Jim Miller Park in Marietta Tuesday because of below-freezing temperatures and windy conditions.

Anyone with appointments between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., was asked to arrive between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The department apologized for the inconvenience.

Channel 2′s Chris Jose goes to the site daily and said the line he saw around 12 p.m. was the longest he’s seen so far.

Jose spoke to some people in line who said they had no idea there was a delay until they arrived.

“I didn’t get the message until I got here on my phone, it was because of the cold weather and the wind last night. The weather conditions, they felt like they had to make it late today,” one woman said.

Jose said there appears to be around a 45 minute wait, as of noon.
