Church comes together for pastor, wife after serious car crash

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — The congregation of a Bartow County church is working to bring their pastor and his wife home by Christmas.

Last month, Pastor Tim McKinley and his wife were nearly killed in an accident on the Florida turnpike.

Family friend Marty Williams knew something had to be done to help them.

“There comes a time when the shepherds need to be taken care of by their flock,” Williams said.

“I hear that wreck every single night and multiple times a day. And my wife and I and our son, we thank God every day that we’re alive,” Pastor Tim McKinley said.

McKinley is still on crutches and Sarah McKinley in a wheelchair. They’ll be able to return to their house only if it is handicapped accessible.

“It means our family is back together. It’s exactly what it means,” McKinley said.

Williams and a growing list of volunteers are all coming together through Without Walls Church of Cartersville where the McKinleys have ministered for nearly eight years.

“I feel very strongly that people of faith need to take care of one another. They’ve been through enough trauma. Let’s give them a Merry Christmas. Let’s live up to the spirit of the season,” Williams said.

The church is still trying to organize more volunteers and donations of supplies.
