ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A popular chain restaurant failed its latest inspection in Conyers.
Channel 2's Carol Sbarge went to Piccadilly Cafeteria on Highway 138, where 13 violations were found, including mold in the ice machine.
Piccadilly officials admit the manager at the Conyers restaurant didn't follow procedures, which was reflected by a failing score of 58 Jan. 14.
Sbarge's investigation shows that the latest score was a big drop for the Conyers Piccadilly; last year, it received two As – a 92 and a 95.
The Conyers restaurant received the following violations:
- Ice machine with mold-like substance
- Potentially hazardous foods not kept cold enough
- Food debris, and grease throughout the facility on floors and walls.
Sbarge went to the restaurant to ask about the violations.
The district manager told her to contact the chief operating officer of the company for specifics.
By phone COO Chris Sanchez said, "We expect more of our folks than the manager performed, who was in charge during the inspection. The regional manager is taking care of all the violations. We serve quality food that is safe," Sanchez said.
The inspector noted multiple floor tiles broken and missing in the kitchen.
Sanchez says all tiles are being replaced.
The Conyers Piccadilly will likely be reinspected this week.
