CONYERS, Ga. — A police officer is recovering from a crash that that left him with serious injuries.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Conyers Police Officer Earrett Green was traveling through the intersection of GA-138 and Flat Shoals Road on March 5 around 10:15 a.m. The 29-year-old officer had his patrol car’s lights on when officials said drove through a red light and slammed into a Ford F-250 pickup truck. After the impact, the patrol car rotated counterclockwise and hit the front of a Mazda Protégé.
Green was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries to his lower extremities.
The driver of the truck was transported to Piedmont Rockdale with minor injuries. The driver of the Protégé was not hurt.
Conyers police spokeswoman Lt. Kim Lucas told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Green was released from the hospital later Thursday. He was responding to assist another officer on a domestic call when the crash happened, she said.
State troopers are still investigating the crash.
