- Georgia’s number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is more than 28,671 and 1,179 deaths are being reported as of Sunday afternoon. The Georgia Department of Public Health updated its website for more hourly numbers.
- The oldest person in Georgia to die of coronavirus was a 106-year-old man from Mitchell County.
- Several malls are reopened and others are preparing to reopen within the next 24 hours.
- The Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy’s Blue Angels flew over metro Atlanta Saturday to honor first responders and medical teams.
- Gov. Brian Kemp announced he will formally extend the Public Health State of Emergency through June 12, 2020. Additionally, he is signing order to require medically fragile and elderly Georgians to continue to shelter in place until June 12. Elderly Georgians are considered ages 65 and older.
- Starbucks announced Sunday it will reopen stores across the U.S. and Canada starting Monday. Check your app or the website for details for individual Georgia locations.
- Goodwill of North Georgia plans to reopen select stores and career centers Wednesday. Locations will feature new safety measures and reopen on a rolling schedule.
- The House of Hope in Decatur will provide free COVID-19 testing starting Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. The tests are also available for people who are asymptomatic but think they’ve been exposed.
- Starting Monday, Costco will require members and guests to wear masks. Most stores will return to normal operating hours with different hours offered for people older than 60 or with disabilities.
- Emory Healthcare has issued new restrictions guidelines for hospitals and clinics that will start Monday.
