- There are now 17,432 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 668 related deaths in Georgia. At least 3,395 cases have required hospitalization.
- Holding pictures of their late loved ones, family members and several lawmakers rallied near the Arbor Terrace at Cascade on Friday. The facility confirmed that 15 residents have now died of the coronavirus at the assisted living facility in southwest Atlanta.
- It is an offseason victory for the Georgia Bulldogs that Jeremy Klawsky, a member of their football staff, is out of the hospital after spending weeks on a ventilator battling coronavirus. Channel 2’s Tony Thomas learned about the huge celebration that included Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart.
- Usually when a loved one is in the hospital you can visit them. That’s not an option now as hospitals restrict visitors because of the coronavirus. So hospitals are finding ways for families to connect.
- Nearly 2.2 million people worldwide -- including more than 671,000 people in the United States – have been infected with the coronavirus, and the number of deaths from the outbreak continues to rise.
- The University of Georgia has released its plans for how it will handle graduations during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Even as Americans are getting $1,200 stimulus checks, House Democrats are proposing a $2,000 a month payment for most Americans over the age of 16 for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.
- Chinese officials on Friday revised the death toll in Wuhan to include an additional 1,290 fatalities attributed to the novel coronavirus, citing a larger percentage of home deaths than previously counted and overwhelmed health care personnel.
- With $100,000 of his own money, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick launched a novel coronavirus relief fund on Thursday, targeting communities of color in need.
