CORONAVIRUS IN GEORGIA: What’s happening today March 14

  • Georgia has delayed the presidential primary scheduled for next week until May 19 to try to stop the spread of coronavirus.
  • Gov. Brian Kemp has called up the National Guard to help with the coronavirus threat in Georgia. As many as 2,000 troops will be activated.
  • Kemp declared a public health emergency Saturday morning and gave updated numbers about the coronavirus in Georgia, saying there are now 66 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
  • Kemp says Georgians at Dobbins Air Reserve Base who were relocated from a cruise ship will be sent home as soon as possible.
  • The city of Brookhaven announced a City Hall employee has tested positive for coronavirus. Brookhaven City Hall will be closed until March 30. All City Hall employees are being asked to self-quarantine.
  • The Georgia Supreme Court has issued a statewide judicial emergency until April 13.
  • President Donald Trump has called for a national day of prayer Sunday and says he will tune in to a service at a Georgia church.
