CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A couple lying in bed were hit by bullets when someone fired shots overnight.
The shooting happened along Emma Gilley Drive in Carrollton around 3 a.m.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said the incident appeared to be a drive-by shooting.
Authorities said the couple were injured in the shooting, but are expected to be OK. Deputies said four children were also inside when shots rang out. The victims were not identified.
The shooter is still on the loose.
Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway was in Carrollton, where you can still see some of the bullet holes next to the front door.
Neighbors told Holloway they are terrified.
“I feel like I want to move, but I can’t, ya know?” said a neighbor who didn’t want to be identified. “It’s scary, and I really don’t know what to do. Like, we don’t want this trouble.”
A neighbor told Holloway there was another drive-by-shooting at the same home two or three months ago. During that shooting, the neighbor told Holloway her house was also struck by bullets. She said now, she feels like it’s not safe for anyone to be outside anymore.
“Kids can’t play outside. There’s plenty of kids out here. They can’t do that because Lord knows what’s going to happen,” she said. “The next car that comes by might be the one that kills them.”
Deputies told Holloway that they’re working to get a description of the vehicle.
