Channel 2 spoke with patients last year who were worried that they might lose their preferred doctors if an agreement could not be reached.

Anthem was asking to end a prior 30-day injunction and immediately terminate coverage for Northside, but a judge denied the request and extended the injunction through April 15.

In court filings, Northside cited a new 2021 law that prevents insurance companies from terminating healthcare providers during a pubic health emergency, such at COVID-19.

Northside said in a statement:

“Northside has worked diligently to resolve this situation and is acutely aware of the stress and frustration of Anthem members and their families. Northside will continue its discussions with Anthem, with the intention of reaching an agreement that provides the best benefits to patients and their families.”
