COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Two people in Coweta County are in custody after a routine traffic stop turned into a drug bust.
Coweta deputies say they found drugs in the car being driven by Jonathan Loftis and Bethany Smith after stopping them for having windows that were too tinted.
According to the incident report, a deputy saw a Toyota 4Runner slam on the brakes as it approached. When it passed the deputy, he noticed that the windows were too dark for him to see into, so he pulled the car over.

After pulling the car over, the deputy had Loftis step out of the car. The deputy could smell marijuana, so he detained Loftis in handcuffs.
Body camera footage then shows the deputy asked Smith to get out of the car.
He asks Smith if she had been smoking marijuana, and she tells him that she did a few minutes earlier. The deputy then asked Smith to get the 2-year-old out of the backseat.

The deputy can then be seen searching the SUV and finding a bag filled with methamphetamine and marijuana laying in the floorboard next to a Happy Meal.
Deputies were also able to determine that the window tint only allowed 14% of light through, which is significantly less than the 30% required by Georgia law.
Both Loftis and Smith were arrested and taken to the Coweta County Detention Center. The child was given to a family member.
