School administrators identified the student, removed them from class and found an unloaded air pistol inside the student’s backpack.
While the student was in possession of the gun, no threats were made. School officials notified law enforcement and “appropriate legal and disciplinary action is being taken,” according to Principal Easterwood.

“I encourage all parents to discuss with their children the seriousness about bringing unapproved items to school. Safety continues to be our highest priority at Arnall Middle School, and we will take the steps necessary to ensure the safety of our students,” Principal Easterwood said.
Earlier this month, the school conducted an unannounced search of classrooms in cooperation with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
