Alan Jackson to headline benefit for tornado victims in his hometown of Newnan

NEWNAN, Ga. — Georgia-born country music star Alan Jackson will headline a concert to benefit his hometown of Newnan, which was hit by a devastating EF-4 tornado in March.

The “Where I Come From” benefit will be held at the Coweta County Fairgrounds on June 26. Jackson will headline and be joined by other country music stars.

The show will benefit the Coweta Community Foundation, which is managing charitable efforts to help people impacted by the tornado.

At least 70 homes were destroyed and many others damaged when the tornado, which packed winds of up to 170 mph, slammed into Newnan on March 26. One man died during the storms as he tried to get to his daughter’s home.

Jackson and his wife, Denise, were both born in Newnan and were high school sweethearts before they married in 1979.
