COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — The Newnan Fire Department is mourning the death of one of their firefighters they say died.

Fire officials did not say how firefighter Damien Sorrells died, but praised his service and how well-loved he was and how his presence would be missed.
“It is with the heaviest heart that the Newnan Fire Department reports the loss of one of our own, Damien Sorrells. Firefighter Sorrells loved the fire service and possessed the biggest servant’s heart you could ever find,” the department wrote.

Local Coweta County departments reached out and expressed their condolences over the fire department’s loss.
Newnan Fire said working with Sorrells was an “honor” and that he would be greatly missed.

“On behalf of the Newnan Fire Department we send our deepest condolences to the Sorrells family. We ask that you pray for the Sorrells family, and NFD as we mourn the loss of our brother,” the department said.
