COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A Coweta County mother is speaking out after she said her daughter was assaulted by a teacher.
It was Thursday when the Northgate High School parent said she received a concerning text message from her daughter, “she texted me and said that her teacher had choked her.”
The mother and daughter did not want to be identified, out of fear of retaliation, but said they wanted their voices heard.

The 14-year-old said the interaction happened while she was in class, in front of a room full of students.
“I got up to borrow a Chromebook charger from this girl in class. My teacher came over and snatched the Chromebook charger out of my hand,” she said.
The freshman went on to say that her teacher wrapped the cord around her neck to “tell me to go back to my seat.”
She claims that at another point, the teacher also put her arms on her, “the teacher came up behind me and grabbed me with her forearm.”
Her mother said she met with the school principal and filed a police report before taking her daughter to urgent care.
“They ended up doing a soft tissue x-ray and her injury was a neck contusion,” she said.
A district spokesperson told Channel 2′s Brittany Kleinpeter that they don’t wish to comment during an active investigation, only sharing that they are aware of the alleged incident.
