COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — The Newnan Police Department said a student has been arrested after he made a threatening phone call to Newnan High School as part of an online challenge prank.

Police said two separate voicemails were left threatening a shooting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. One message also included a threat to blow up the school.
As a precaution, Newnan High School, the Central Education Center and Cougar Village were placed on a Code Yellow status.

Officers searched all three locations but didn’t find any threat.
Police have not released the identity of the student who was arrested. Police said there is no threat to students or faculty.

Newnan High School is one of several metro Atlanta high schools that have been the subject of shooting threats in recent weeks.
