COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — The US Marshal Service is offering a reward for the capture of a man accused of shooting a Georgia State Patrol K-9.
The service told Channel 2 Action News on Friday they were offering $5,000 for information that leads to Ira Troy Williams’ arrest.

State troopers pulled over Williams, 51, on Wednesday night for an obscured license plate. Troopers said Williams gave his driver’s license during the traffic stop, then led officers on a chase from Interstate 85 to Grantville, Ga.
GSP says Williams shot at troopers with an AR-15 rifle, and injured K-9 Amor.

After the incident, Williams ran off into thick woods off of South Highway 29 and Calico Loop and a manhunt started. On Thursday, officers canceled the manhunt but increased patrols in the area.
Neighbors told Channel 2′s Tom Jones that they were uneasy after what happened nearby, but others said they weren’t worried for themselves.
Over at the hardware store on Highway 29, worker Jackson Lonnie told Channel 2 Action News he’s not worried about his own safety, but he is concerned. “For him,” he said with a wry smile. “Yeah. He ought to give himself up.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said arrest warrants have been issued Williams for aggravated assault against a police officer for shooting at troopers during the car chase. He still has not been found and is considered armed and dangerous.
