GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a three-car crash that closed all lanes of Highway 316 eastbound near Highway 120 in Lawrenceville for hours Thursday.
Three people were injured and taken to the hospital.
Police say two people suffered moderate injuries. A third person was trapped inside their car and had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters. That person is now critical.
A Georgia State Patrol officer was one of the first people on the scene. He was able to put out a small fire in one of the vehicles with a portable fire extinguisher.
Lawrenceville police were on scene investigating the crash, which created heavy delays throughout the rush hour commute.
The lanes reopened just before 6 p.m.
