Twins Brittany and Tiffany Coffland were supposed to be celebrating their shared birthday today. Instead, their St. Charles, Illinois, community is mourning after police say the girls' father shot them to death.
Police say Randall Coffland shot his 16-year-old daughters and wounded his wife before killing himself at his home in suburban Chicago on Friday. The twins' 17th birthday would have been March 14.

The girls' bodies were discovered Friday in St. Charles. Police said Coffland and his estranged wife both called 911 to report the shootings.
St. Charles Deputy Police Chief David Kintz said Randall Coffland told a police dispatcher that he shot his 16-year-old daughters and his wife, 46-year-old Anjum Coffland. She told dispatchers in a separate call that her husband had shot their daughters and shot her in the legs.
Recordings of the the horrific 911 calls made Friday by Randall Coffland, 48, and his wife, Anjum Coffland, 46, were released by police on Sunday.
“I just shot and killed my two kids and I shot my wife, and I’m going to kill myself now,” Randall Coffland told a dispatcher.
He could also be heard telling his wife, “I want you to live and suffer like I did.”
The next 911 call came from his wife.
“Come here now! Oh, my God, my husband shot my kids!” Anjum Coffland said.
Police later found the bodies of the two girls and their father. All had been shot once in the head, and a handgun was found near Randall Coffland's body, according to investigators.
Anjum Coffland was taken to a hospital, where she was in fair condition Sunday.
Kintz said detectives are still trying to piece together what led up to the shootings. He said police responded to a report of domestic trouble last month, but nothing physical was reported during the incident.
Police have said the Cofflands were married, but that Anjum Coffland didn't live in the condominium where the shooting took place. Kintz said detectives had not determined as of Sunday why she was in the home at the time of the shooting.
Brittany and Tiffany Coffland were students at St. Charles East High School.
Friends of the family have set up a YouCaring page to help pay for Anjum Coffland's medical expenses and for the twins' funerals.
