DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County girl is worried that some people could be forgotten during this pandemic, and she is determined to help.

Holli Morgan is a little girl who thinks big.

“I have 574 masks in total. My goal is 1,200 masks,” Holli said.

It’s pandemic protection. The 11-year old is a seamstress. She has taken lessons and now has put her skills to work.

“This little girl just wanted to help. She’s a little girl who wanted to be part of something big. None of us really knew how big it would go,” her mother April McMillian said.

McMillian says it started with a report they saw on Channel 2 Action News.

Holli began making masks for hospital workers. But over the weekend she learned about mask wearing becoming mandatory in some metro area cities.

She worried about people who are homeless, so she aims to make masks for them.

“It’s her own initiative. It wasn’t something that someone planted in her. She saw there was a need, and knew she was gifted to do this. She took it on herself to be a blessing to others,” Dr. Kerwin Lee said.

Lee is the senior pastor of Berean Christian Church, which has congregations in DeKalb, Gwinnett, and Henry Counties. He will take charge of distributing the masks Holli makes to those who need them.

The little girl who thinks big will help many.

“It makes me feel like I did something to help the earth in a major pandemic,” Holli said.
