BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — Police say a drunk driver caused a chain reaction crash on Buford Highway that left 12 people injured Thursday afternoon.
Brookhaven police said the driver committed a hit and run crash at the intersection of Buford Highway and North Druid Hills road. He sped through a parking lot, where he hit several more vehicles. He then sped north on Buford Highway until one of his wheels fell off, causing him to lose control and spin into oncoming traffic.

The ensuing crash involved five other vehicles and left 12 people hurt. Five of those people were taken to the hospital.
The driver was arrested for multiple traffic offenses and police found he was wanted for aggravated assault in another jurisdiction. The driver and the victims have not been identified.
