DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are investigating after they say a teen accidentally shot himself Saturday night.

Just before 11 p.m. on Dec. 14, officers were called to the 4000 block of Shane Trail. Upon their arrival, they found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.
The teen was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for his life-threatening injuries. Further investigators by DeKalb County detectives led to the discovery that the victim accidentally shot himself.
He later died from his injuries.

According to DKPD, the 16-year-old was involved in an argument with a known suspect in the 3400 block of Flat Shoals Road. Detectives responded to the scene to investigate further.
Police did not release the teen’s identity. The investigation is ongoing.
