ATLANTA — Police have arrested a man wanted in the murder of a transgender woman in Brookhaven months after her death.
Police said 18-year-old Pedro Silva-Renteria was taken into custody in the murder of Sophie Vasquez in Texas on Thursday.

Vasquez was found shot multiple times in her Brookhaven apartment on May 4.

Police said Silva-Renteria was arrested with the help of the United States Marshals Service, The Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Grand Prairie Police Department.
Silva-Renteria will be held in Texas pending extradition proceedings to return him to Georgia, at which time he will be taken to the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

Silva-Renteria is charged with Murder, and additional charges are expected.
