DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators are searching for a gunman or gunmen who shot up a DeKalb County home, injuring a 7-year-old girl who was sitting on a couch inside.
The gunfire erupted around 11 p.m. Friday at the home along Satellite Boulevard in Ellenwood.
Neighbors told Channel 2's Michael Seiden that this kind of violence is very unusual along their street.
“As I was walking to the bathroom, I heard boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! I stopped and said, ‘That’s kind of close,’” neighbor Dana Bradley said about the gunfire Friday night.
Seiden said after a quick look at the home, he could see nearly a dozen bullet holes between the front door and the living room window.
Bradley said she was heartbroken when she found out the child was hit by the bullets.
“I’m crying. It’s a baby,” she said.

Investigators have not released the full extent of the girl’s injuries other than to say her injuries were serious.
Neighbors who heard the gunfire are now working with police as they continue to search for the shooter or shooters.
“It’s hurting to know that a person would shoot a child, an innocent child,” Bradley said.
When Seiden asked neighbors to describe the family who lives in the home, they described the family as quiet but friendly and said they keep to themselves.
