ELLENWOOD, Ga. — An 8-year-old girl is recovering after police say she was shot while lying in bed inside a DeKalb County home Monday morning.
DeKalb County police said they responded to a shooting around 1:30 a.m. at a house off Orbit Circle in Ellenwood where they found the girl inside the home. They say the bullet came through the window near her bedroom.

The girl was taken to a local hospital and is stable.
“It’s real shocking and the family that was attacked. They don’t do anything. It’s just children,” neighbor Shanna Ellis said.
Police said a suspect has not been arrested.

Investigators believe an adult living at the house was intended target. Officers arrested that man for possession of narcotics.
