Say goodbye to Stone Mountain’s classic laser show. A ‘bigger and better’ show is on the way

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — A new main attraction is on its way to Stone Mountain Park.

The park’s iconic classic laser show is in its final days, and a new laser show that officials are calling bigger and better will soon arrive.

The last chance is during Spring Break April 1 – 8, and Saturdays in April. The last show will be April 29.

While they kept their lips sealed on the details of the new show, officials did confirm to Channel 2′s Veronica Griffin that the new show will have more fireworks, more flames, new music and a drone show.

Griffin spoke with tourists who came from across the country to see the mountain known for it’s carving of Confederate leaders Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

Abel Donis, from California, says he timed his visit just right because he wanted to see the classic laser show.

“It’s something we’re kind of looking forward to,” Donis said.

The Oberholtzer family from Pennsylvania said they were hoping to see the new show, but are just a little too early.

“We were hoping to check it out, but it’s not open for us yet, unfortunately,” Melissa Oberholtzer said. “We thought we’d come stop into Stone Mountain Park because we hear it’s a cool place to check out.”

The classic laser show will still be part of the park’s catalog of light shows and will still be shown from time to time.

The new show will debut Memorial Day Weekend.
