DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County firefighters had to rescue three billboard workers who got stuck in a lift Wednesday morning.

The men were stuck 70 feet in the air along Northeast Expressway near Interstate 85.

The workers told Channel 2′s Michael Seiden that they were working to fix a digital billboard when the lift suddenly shutdown, stranding the men in the air for at least 2.5 hours.

DeKalb Fire Rescue said the first ladder truck they sent to the scene did not reach high enough to get to the men. They then brought in another truck that had a 100-foot ladder on it and were able to get the men down.

The men told Seiden they weren’t really scared about getting stuck they were just waiting to get down.

One of the workers went back up to work on the billboard shortly after they were rescued.
