DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police say an 8- and 17-year-old were shot Friday afternoon as they were walking home.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. at the Eastwyck Village Apartments along Candler Road.
Investigators said the 8-year-old was an innocent bystander.
“We believe it was targeted shooting. It was not a random shooting and the 8-year-old was not the target of the shooting,” detectives said.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound the shoulder. Police said the teen was grazed by a bullet and was treated at the scene.
“You don’t know whether he’s going to live or die and then the children ain’t safe. I mean, somebody just come up and shoot. It’s crazy,” a grandmother who lives in the complex said.
Police said there is a person they want to talk to.
“We do have a person of interest but nothing that we are ready to release at this time,” detectives said.
Detectives said they found the shooter’s car about three miles away from the apartment complex.
