DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for the gunman who shot a man near a day care in DeKalb County.

The shooting forced lockdowns that were soon lifted at a nearby day care and high school.

Channel 2's Lauren Pozen saw police put crime scene tape up and watched an officer remove one shell casing from the ground from the one shot that was fired.

Pozen also saw officers talking with witnesses, and it was all unfolding across the street from a day care.

Crime scene tape blocked off part of Columbia Drive and Woods Drive in Decatur Wednesday morning.

DeKalb County police went to the Springwood subdivision just after 8 a.m. after receiving a call about gunfire.

Police said two people were inside a white car on Woods Drive when a black car pulled up behind them.

That was when a person got out of the black car and fired one shot into the white car, police said.

“The passenger of the white vehicle was shot in the arm. The passenger of the white vehicle exits, and he runs over to the parking lot of the day care center,” Shiera Campbell, with DeKalb County police, said.
