Officials told Doudna on Wednesday that they hoped to have repairs fixed by 2 p.m. As of 9 p.m., crews were still in the area working on the broken water main.
“It’s a little bit of a waiting game, kind of boring, a little bit time-consuming, just watching time go by waiting for it, kind of wanting to shower,” resident Adam Huckabee said.
DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson said teams from Alabama and North Carolina are coming to the area to assist crews.
The county also offered free water at gas stations and schools.
