Jones said after the shooting, she ran from her bedroom to the living room to check on her children. Both had been hit.
“I saw my son laying on the ground,” Jones said. “I was checking his pulse and asking if (my daughter) was OK. She couldn’t talk because she was laying on the ground as well.”
Shanterriah Wheelous died at the scene. Darrell Wheelous died on the way to the hospital.
Now, their grieving mother is asking who did this and why.
Jones said police found 32 shell casings scattered across the property.
“My house is riddled with bullets,” Jones said. “These murders are senseless. My children were sitting in their home, looking at TV. they didn’t expect to die tonight.”
Jones said she believes someone fired on the family’s house with an automatic weapon, but she has no idea who would target her children.
Jones said her daughter worked at a warehouse and leaves behind two children. Her son, an electrician, didn’t have children, something Jones said is heartbreaking for her.
“I will never have my grandchildren. My son hadn’t had a child yet,” Jones said. “I will never know a child from him.”
So far, police have not identified any suspects.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for the siblings’ funeral expenses.
