DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Just before the holidays, a Dekalb County theatre is struggling to make ends meet after they had to unexpectedly cancel two shows over the weekend.
Onstage Atlanta Theatre was turning patrons down at the door and by phone after they had to cancel Saturday and Sunday performances of She Loves Me.
The show’s director, Cathe Payne, told Channel 2′s Brittany Kleinpeter that one of their cast members experienced a serious illness shortly before another cast member got into a car accident.

Payne said the canceled shows cost the theatre about $5,000. With a $10,000 monthly rent, they’re nervous about how they’re going to make ends meet.
“Ticket sales cover a large 80% of our income,” Payne said.
Despite hurdle after hurdle, Payne said the show will still go on.
The cast is now coming together, learning different roles all to save the theatre and ensure this isn’t their final bow.
“Every single one of them said, ‘No, we can do it. We can do two shows on Saturday and two shows on Sunday,’” Payne explained.
The cast is putting on two more shows of the musical to try to recoup some of their losses, with a performance on Thursday and Sunday.
You can purchase tickets or donate to help the theatre on their website.
