DeKalb County high school teacher resigns after sharing “disturbing” social media post

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The DeKalb County School District said a teacher has resigned after creating a disturbing social media post.

Channel 2 Action News confirmed the teacher worked at Cedar Grove High School. The district did not release the teacher’s name.

Parents complained that the teacher had shared a social media post showing a man kneeling on a crying toddler's neck. The post was apparently in reference to police officers in Minneapolis who knelt on George Floyd's neck, killing him. The man in the post was arrested in Ohio.

“The teacher has resigned and is no longer employed with DCSD,” school officials wrote. “Again, there is no place for racism and abuse in our school district.”

Some parents were not satisfied with his resignation and wanted charges pressed against the teacher.
