DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition.
Officers responded to a person-shot call Tuesday afternoon in the 1300 block of Kimlie Lane.
Police say there was an argument between two men.
According to police, a 32-year-old man was gunned down in front of a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old.
Police said the dispute was between the 3-year-old’s father and her mother’s new boyfriend.
The mother’s brother, "got out of the vehicle to try to calm the situation and that’s when he was shot,” police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.
He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition.
The boyfriend was shot and died in the car.
“I heard between five and 10 shots. I saw an individual stumble in the middle of the cul-de-sac and fall,” neighbor Wilford Copeland said.

“I’ve seen him and waved at him a few times. I was hoping he was a good fella. Some things can happen to make a person go off in two seconds,” Copeland said.
Neighbors said they comforted the young children who witnessed the shooting with juice and toys.
“It made me think about my kids. That’s why I brought out the stuff to them. My kids would want someone to comfort them,” Anissa Harris said.
Channel 2’s Liz Artz spoke to the shooter’s mother, who said she has not seen her son since the shooting.
The investigation is still ongoing. Sullivan is charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
