DeKalb school that distributes food to students, closed after positive COVID-19 diagnosis

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County school being used as a food distribution hub for students has been closed after someone tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement from the DeKalb County School District, it stated, “The feeding site at Freedom Middle School is closed temporarily for deep cleaning after a non-employee tested positive for COVID-19.”

The district is currently doing virtual learning, so few people were exposed to the individual.

“DCSD remains committed to the safety of our community, staff and students,” the district stated.

The district announced students can go to Stone Mountain High School as an alternative to get their meals until Freedom Middle reopens.
