DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Warming centers are opening up all over metro Atlanta to make sure everyone has a warm place to sleep Wednesday night.
Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes spoke with a nonprofit organization that is helping the community.
The organization is called Frontline Response and that is where DeKalb County officials want people to go if they need to keep warm Wednesday night.
The facility is located off Gresham Road.
There are free buses that bring people who are experiencing homelessness there. People need to check in at the front desk.
The center has blankets everywhere so people can warm up immediately upon entering.

Once they get you registered, there’s a room where people can hang out or sleep.
Frontline partners up with the city of Decatur and DeKalb County to provide the facility for people when temperatures go down to freezing.
If you’re fortunate enough to have a place to stay - whether you live in an apartment or a house - you’re probably wondering how you can stay warm - and keep your utility bill as low as possible.
Fernandes spoke to a Georgia Power spokesperson about that, and Matthew Kent said paying attention to past usage can save you some money.
Having a thermostat that you can program can help, and you should always seal cracks in windows and doors.
“Make sure you’re not running your heat all day long, especially when you’re not at home. The recommended temperature should be set at 68 degrees when you are at home and lower when you’re not at home,” Kent said. “If you’re sealing the cracks in your windows – setting at 68 properly – houses or apartments – you know you are going to save money all year long, especially with a programmable thermostat. I love those things.
Frontline said it had more than triple the number of beds it had last winter. They’re expecting to use those beds Wednesday night.
