DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are searching for a shooter they say left at least two families in a DeKalb County apartment complex shook up when gunfire struck their homes.
Neighbors told Channel 2′s Matt Johnson they are struggling to make sense of the shooting that left two apartments with bullet holes inside and outside of the home.
“This could have been really tragic,” said one resident who asked not to be identified, “just for something senseless.”

Doorbell video captured the moment two gunshots sent a resident ducking for cover on the same night the shooting left two apartments damaged. It happened the Saturday before Labor Day just before 2 a.m.
“My six-year-old and an 11-year-old are always here running around and they play video games right here,” said the resident, “and that bullet hole is right in my living room.”
DeKalb County police say they’re still investigating the shooting at the Somerset Crossing apartments off Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker.

“It was a trail of just gold bullets just glistening in a light leading all the way around,” said Suzette Bourgeois, who lives in the complex.
It’s the fourth violent crime reported to DeKalb police in three weeks at the same complex.
“[Management] has heard from tenants back here,” said Bourgeois. “They have not one time reached out through text, email, anything to let anybody know what’s going on.”
Channel 2 Action News took safety concerns right to management two times this week, but no one has sent a response.
