Woman rescued after dump truck rolls over car; driver to be cited

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County emergency crews responded to an accident involving a dump truck that rolled over a car, trapping a woman inside.

The accident happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Rogers Lake Road and South Deshon Road.

NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene where multiple fire and rescue personnel could be seen surrounding the car.

DeKalb fire said that one person was trapped in the accident and had been rescued from the car. The victim was airlifted from the scene with unknown injuries. It took about 45 minutes to get her out.

A witness told Channel 2′s Michele Newell the dump truck hit the car and the car went into a ditch and the dump truck rolled on top of it.

“She wasn’t screaming, she wasn’t saying she was hurt, all she said is she couldn’t move and 20 minutes later the police came and assessed the situation,” witness Robert Scales said.

Officials said the driver of the dump truck will be cited but didn’t specify charges.
