DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating after police say officers shot and killed Christan Smith,33, of Ellenwood.
The incident began around 8 a.m. when DeKalb County officers responded to calls about a suspicious man walking on I-20.
The officer offered him a ride to the nearest gas station.
After the DeKalb officer pulled into a nearby Shell Station, the man pulled out a gun. Police said officers fired their weapons in response, killing the man.
No officers were injured and the GBI is investigating what led up to the shooting. It’s unclear when the second officer arrived on the scene. The officers have not been identified.

A Channel 2 Action News photographer at the scene saw a body in the middle of the street. Police had roads in the area blocked off.
A DeKalb County police cruiser at the scene appeared to have bullet holes in at least one window and the back window was shattered.

Crime scene tape was strung up across the gas station.
