DEKALB COUNTY — Renewing your Georgia tag has never been this easy. The first Georgia Motor Vehicle Division self-service kiosks have been installed in local Kroger stores.
Channel 2’s Craig Lucie went to DeKalb County Friday afternoon and tried one out. Shoppers told him they will be a major time saver.
“It’s actually very easy for people right now because you don’t have to go through the whole process of going to a building,” said Melat Tezera.
It is quite simple. All you have to do is follow a few steps on a touch screen, scan your driver’s license, pay the fee and your decal and registration card will be printed on the spot.
“I think it will be great and save a lot of time, a lot of headache,” said Joey Holland.
Holland told Lucie he recently had a bad experience trying to renew his tag.
“It was extremely bad. There were long lines and a long wait,” Holland said.
The new Motor Vehicle Division self-service kiosks are now open at the nine Kroger stores throughout Georgia.
The program is expanding, too, and soon you will be able to pay insurance penalties at the kiosks.
The kiosks accept credit and debit cards.
Other states like California, Tennessee and Nevada already have similar kiosks.
