DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — On the stage in the Chamblee High School auditorium Friday, there were students who are right at home in the spotlight.
“I love acting and being a celebrity,” junior J.C. Quinby said.

J.C. is part of the Chamblee Onstage cast of Fiddler on the Roof. He’s none other than the Fiddler himself. J.C. is also a person with Down syndrome.
Channel 2′s Berndt Petersen spoke to J.C. Friday, and to musical theater teacher Linda Lirette.
“Chamblee celebrates diversity of every single kind. It is our strength,” Lirette said, adding that inclusion is in the school’s DNA.

“It’s more than just inclusion. It’s really about fully integrating students with special needs into the program,” J.C.’s father Douglas Quinby said. Douglas says he couldn’t have been prouder during those recent performances; moments he’ll always hang onto.

As for J.C., he knows how to play to a crowd. “Great! It was great for the applause,” J.C. said.
